Element Management System (EMS)

An Element Management System allows for network elements to be managed across a network through the use of a simple interface. Information pertaining to the network is available through the use of a simple interface that uses widgets that are fully customizable. Depending on the drilldown scope, these widgets are able to adapt and provide accurate information at a glance.

The size and location of these widgets is fully customizable as well, with an extensive and easily expandable widget library that includes information such as the system’s health and the recent history of alarms or tickets.

Element Management System (EMS)

Auto-discovery

The Element Management System (EMS) feature is responsible for collecting, consolidating, and normalizing data from network elements. This function provides a hierarchical view of the system while displaying essential information for the Network Management System (NMS).

The EMS features a highly redundant hardware architecture, allowing for stability and reliability. This can be reflected in its handling of alarms where over 2,000,000 alarms can be queued during alarm storms, allowing for proper monitoring of networks in any situation. The EMS also has a full-featured rules engine which allows for rules to be evaluated and executed accurately.

Neutral Host

Our Neutral Host design provides Carriers and Integrators with access to their equipment and alarms down to a component alarm level by sharing information they usually wouldn’t be capable of seeing. This allows multiple carriers on a shared system to receive notifications and work requests that apply only to them while working congruently with the overall network.

Configuration Discovery

Almost every electronic device has configurable settings and parameters that can be managed. However, changing these parameters one device at a time can be labor intensive and often dangerous as users might need to use the same login to make all changes in the system.

The Remote Discover Framework (RDF) allows for the discovery of all configurable parameters and introduces them to a database. It also identifies changes made since the last poll and gives users an interface that enables secure, tracked, and reliable modifications to the network.

Performance Discovery

Over the course of any day, most devices will generate useful statistical information such as temperature, throughput, power consumption, and more. The remote Discover Framework provides a mechanism to discover and database all these parameters as they are generated. The results can then be fed into the reporting mechanisms in the IDMS platform so that you can see the trend over time or set up alerts if these values are outside thresholds.

Alarm Discovery

Relying on SNMP traps on their own is not a reliable mechanism to discover all the alarms in your network. It is important to connect to the device through whatever means possible to ensure that it is being addressed by whichever means possible. Without this feature, you will gradually lose sync with your network over time, and you may have outages that may last months instead of hours.

Topology Discovery

Discover what devices are available on a network through the Topology Discover feature. This component finds the names of devices and their relationship to each other so that they can automatically appear inside the IDMS with the proper hierarchy.
