O-RAN Alliance

Errigal’s expertise in the telecom industry provides users with a best in class operations system software platform and custom software for a variety of solutions. As an O-RAN Alliance member and contributor Errigal has committed to evolving Radio Access Network (RAN) management and operation around the world.

An ecosystem of innovative new products is already emerging that will form the underpinnings of the multi-vendor, interoperable, autonomous RAN. This new evolution is enabled by the global, industry-wide vision, commitment, and leadership of the O-RAN Alliance members and contributors.

Errigal Embraces Open Architecture

The future of wireless network architecture is open and more cost-effective than ever before. But with openness comes complexity which can threaten network performance and management cost-savings. The single-vendor RAN of the past is already being replaced by an amalgam of multiple vendors of RUs and cloud-based BBUs and the traditional single-vendor Network Management System (NMS) must also be flexible and adapt. This complexity increases exponentially as 5G is woven into existing 4G networks.

Without proper multi-vendor network management, service-affecting problems will go unresolved, operational data will become siloed, and network management TCO increases. Errigal intends to use it’s decades of experience in creating creative software solutions for network operations to reduce the management complexity of the networks of the future.

Errigal and O-RAN Alliance

The O-RAN Alliance was established as a German entity in 2018 by AT&T, China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, NTT DOCOMO and Orange. The management structure consists of an Operating Board made up of 15 operators and a Technical Steering Committee (TSC) co-chaired by Dr. Sachin Katti, Professor at Stanford University and Dr. Chih-Lin I, Chief Scientist of Wireless Technologies at China Mobile. The remaining TSC members are made up of the chairs and co-chairs of each technical workgroup.

Workgroups are made up of both operators and contributors. Errigal is proud to support and be a member of Work Group 1 – The Non-real-time RAN Intelligent Controller and A1 Interface Workgroup.
